Stake New Zealand Limited is among 11 successful entities in New Zealand’s online casino auction, confirmed in the Department of Internal Affairs’ October 13, 2026 update. It has won the right to apply, but it has not yet received a casino licence
What the auction result means
The auction covered 15 application rights and finished at NZ$15 million per licence. Successful bidders must complete detailed applications and pass suitability and compliance assessments. Auction success does not guarantee approval; final licensed brands will appear on the DIA’s public register after approval.
What happens next?
From December 1, 2026, providers without a licence application must stop operating in New Zealand. Applicants under assessment may continue under transitional arrangements without advertising. The fully licensed regime is expected in 2027.
That timetable is not a confirmed Stake launch date. The next meaningful milestone is the regulator’s licensing decision, not the auction outcome.
For the official process, consult the DIA’s licensing and compliance guidance. Find general brand context in the Stake overview and follow further Regulation & Licensing coverage on Bonuses Place. Keep market-specific permissions separate when comparing operators.
